Sliding lunch

In our new schedule, 4th. Period is a combination of class and lunch. 9th and 10th clsses eat lunch for 40 minutes then have class for 50. 11th and 12th are the reverse.

Can adjust the schedule to reflect this!

I think you should be able to do that. You could create overlapping time blocks and assign lunch to an empty period(e.g. 12) while keeping class on the proper period.
Additionally you can rename the 'period' text to reflect those changes from Settings(on the ruler) > Planner
