Cell editor

The cell editor is a bit of mystery for me. Sometimes it shows up in columns on the grade book and sometimes not. For instance, in one grade type--proficiency, which is a 1.0-4.0 scale--the automatic editor is not available. I'd like the icon choices show up when I'm using this scale, but instead I just get text choices first. I have to select the icons in an additional step.

Hello Gary,
 The cell editor is set to automatic editor on text based grade types if this option shown below is enabled (it is by default)
 You can turn it off and manually select the cell editor you need (Menu > Grade types, edit yours)
 
 All the other grade types besides rubrics will let you choose the editor manually.
