Teach the same class with a colleague, prepare activities together and review your students’ work in one shared space. Co-teaching in iDoceo Connect gives each teacher access through their own account, with permission to edit or simply view the class.
If you also use iDoceo, you can link that shared Connect class to your class in the app and bring its published tasks and results into your own gradebook.
Before you begin
- Each teacher needs their own iDoceo Connect account and active PRO coverage. Co-teaching is available with an eligible individual plan or school coverage.
- Choose one existing Connect class to share. You do not need to create a separate Connect class for each teacher.
- You can collaborate entirely in your browser. Follow the iDoceo steps below only if you also use the app, and update iDoceo to the latest version first.
1. Invite your colleague
As the class owner, sign in to iDoceo Connect, open your class and choose Settings.
In Teachers & access, select Add co-teacher. Enter the email address your colleague uses for their Connect account, then choose their permission:
- Can edit: your colleague can manage students, tasks and results in the shared class.
- Read only: your colleague can view the class contents without changing them.
Select Invite. For an existing class, this sends the invitation straight away. If you are setting up a new class, save the class changes to send it.
2. Open the shared class
Your colleague receives an email invitation. They should sign in to Connect using the invited email address, open Notifications and select Accept invitation. They can then open the shared class.
In the owner’s Teachers & access list, an invitation waiting to be accepted is marked Invitation pending. Once accepted, the teacher is shown as a Co-teacher.
Both teachers now work with the same Connect class. An editing co-teacher can help prepare and manage the class’s work; a read-only co-teacher can follow it without making changes.
3. Link the class in iDoceo
To work with the shared class from iDoceo, open your class settings in the app, choose Links and enable iDoceo Connect. Connect the same account that has access to the shared class.
In Select an iDoceo Connect class, choose the existing shared class. The list shows each class’s name, your role — Owner or Co-teacher — and the number of students. Use the search field if needed.
Select the class your colleague shared with you, rather than Create new class. Each teacher links the shared Connect class to their own class in iDoceo.
If iDoceo warns that the Connect class is already linked to another class in your iDoceo, check your selection before continuing. Replacing the link changes that previous association.
4. Bring tasks into your gradebook
In the linked iDoceo class, choose Add column > iDoceo Connect > Published and select the task you want to use. iDoceo brings the task into a gradebook column and loads the available results.
If iDoceo asks you to match student aliases, review the matches so each result goes to the correct student. To collect later submissions or updated results, reload the task’s submitted work.
Importing a shared task gives you a column in your own gradebook. It does not automatically share your other local columns, calculations or the rest of your iDoceo gradebook with your colleague.
Manage access when your team changes
The class owner can return to Settings > Teachers & access and open the three-dot menu beside a colleague. Choose Make read only, Allow editing or the option to remove that teacher, then Save changes.
For a pending invitation, the same menu also offers Resend invitation. If your colleague cannot see the class, check that they used the invited email address, accepted the invitation and that both teachers still have active PRO coverage.
