Is it possible to place students in three groups based on their ranking, e.g. by target grade or current grade? Possibly by using a custom grade for low, mid and high ability?

Hello Red_lemon29 if you've already created that column that holds that target grade: tap&hold on the student's header > Sort > Column
You can also set up a new grade (Main screen > grade types (on the ruler) > Add with those low / mid /high ability texts. Apply for example 0% - 50% a 100% to differentiate its in the grade configuration.
Another possible option would be adding the target grade in the Group field of each student. This will easily let you sort by group with the same option mentioned in the first point.
The downside to this approach is that you won't be able to use the new ranking&comparison features available in our next update 3.1 I'd strongly suggest to add a specific column.

			Hi Bert,
Thanks for the response. I've set up the ranking column and new grade type but the ranking calculation returns the absolute value. If I turn on the percentile option, the grade type will still use the absolute rank. Is there any way around this?
Edit - I figured it out! I converted the rank to a generic numerical 1 to class size grade, then converted this to the grouping grade. Would be good in the next update to get rank as a percentage instead of displayed next to the absolute value. This way this could be done in one column.
Cheers.

Thanks for posting the workaround Red_lemon29. I'll see if we can do something about this in our next major update.
