Hello bsm78,
It isn't recommended to handle those 670 lines at once, but you shouldn't have no trouble importing it. If the app closes automatically, it is due to not having enough memory to handle the whole gradebook.
Make sure that there are no additional columns in that CSV file and that you're only importing a single column. Once you have that file, open the class, tap on Tools > Columns and make sure there are no columns in here.
Once you've erased the additional columns, enable compressed mode (grade book > gear icon (toolbar) > Settings , and set the smallest possible text size.
