Icons/ attendence

I cant seem to make a range of Icons appear when doing the attendance in grade book. A double tap produces a green tick (Present) but no other options appear for not present or sick. I have been through the settings process. I have not found this very clear, seems like a basic operation and I'm sure it is very easy but it is consuming too much of my time at the moment. A little frustrated, can anyone help?

You're working with the Quick attendance check, use the Extra quick attendance check instead.
When you tap and hold on the last column of your grade book, it will let you choose the extra quick which will show the additional icons you've configured.
I guess you did this already, but the attendance icons can be configured on the main screen / Options / attendance
