Count columns in a category was created by CBashford
Hi,

Is there a way to count how many columns there are in a folder/category?

I currently have a gradebook set up with google classroom linked and grades imported.
Where a student has not completed a task, I have entered a cross icon (❌).
The grade book is split into folders for each term, and a calculation used to give an overall outcome for the term.

At the minute, the calculation counts how many crosses a student has received, and then returns 1️⃣/2️⃣/3️⃣ depending on this. At the minute, if I add a column to the folder, I have to go in and edit the formula to change the boundaries of how many crosse will output 3️⃣ etc

I would like this to be a rolling function where it automatically updates if I add additional columns. So rather than me having to work out how many crosses are allowed, it will automatically calculate this value based on how many columns/tasks were set.

When I couldn’t do this directly, I thought about possibly using two calculations?
One calculation to count how many columns (which would automatically update when more are added).
Then the folder calculation which would link to this and gives the final output.

Eg:

A term has 5 tasks set,
0 or 1 missing tasks returns 1️⃣
2 or 3 missing tasks returns 2️⃣
4 or 5 missing tasks returns 3️⃣

If more tasks were set, these boundaries would change and I have to calculate and edit the formula individually.
I’d like it to stay at a constant 1/3, depending on how many tasks were set in total.
<33% missed tasks = 1️⃣
<67 % missed task = 2️⃣
>_67% missed tasks = 3️⃣
