How do I import a Word spreadsheet that keeps the carriage return in each cell? Or, do I have to use an XLS spreadsheet to import from?

More details here ...
I have a rubric that has three or more separate lines in each cell so the students can understand what they achieved. For instance, in one cell:

- short text
- limited detail
- reader can follow most of the time

But, when I try to import this by pasting into a rubric ... it puts each line in a separate cell.

My workaround is to remove any pilcrows (¶) or new lines (a return arrow symbol) from my word document but that does not allow me to have comments on each line. Instead, they look like this with commas separating everything:

Short text, limited detail, reader can follow most of the time, linked personal experience arguments, started to engage and persuade through language choices.

Here is an image of the Word document I am using:

Last Edit: 3 months 2 weeks ago by brettm. Reason: asked whether I can use MS Word to import from.
