# Total Points Grading & Weighted average

We are going to configure a gradebook to obtain the points from two Subjects plus the record for Attendance.
Once we have the points of all the subjects we will create a Final Result column for English Literature.
Reading a Literary Work: 60 points.
Asignned to four Areas:
2. Synthesis of the work: 20 points
3. Criticism of the work: 10 points
Short Novel Writing: 80 points
Asignned to 6 Areas
1. Plot : 20 points
2. Structure :10 points
3. Style : 10 points
4. Vocabulary: 15 points
5. Originality:25 points
6. On Time : Yes/NO 0/5 points

### How to Create a Score Column

You have to create the columns of each Area that you are going to score.
In the video on the left you can see how to create the first column Reading Comprehension, select for this column a grade type of 15 points. Repeat this for the rest of the columns, assigning the desired points in each one.

### How to create a category and insert its columns

Once the area columns are created, you have to create the Category where the areas belong, in this case Reading Wuthering Heights, as you can see in the video on the right.
In this Category we assign a grade type of 60 points and the Calculation as Total points grading.
Once all of this is done, drag and drop its Area Columns inside, and you are done.
Repead the process for all the other Categories.

In the following image you can see the result of the configuration with input data on it.

### How to obtain the final Grades of one Class. (with a calculation column)

In the previous English Literature class we have added another category called HomeWork, a column  Oral Exam and  a category for Attendace points.
See on the right the updated GradeBook.
To obtain the final grade of this class we will create a Calculation Column configured with 100 points, and a Quick conversion to text US Grades A+F
This calculation  will allow you to assign different weights to each category as desired.
The grade type is setup to a 100 points, so we have a percentage of the final score, and with Quick conversion we obtain the Final Grade, in this example US Grades A-F.

Now, Edit the Column > tap on Weighted Average > select the categories to be included in it.  The video below on the left details the process.

#### Final Result with weighed average calculation

To obtain the final grade of this class with a Total points grading.
create Calculation Column, setup numeric grade to the total number of points in our example 190

Quick conversion

Now, Edit the Column > tap on Addition > select  Total Points  grading and select the categories that conform your calculation.

### Using a Folder to obtain the final grades.

To obtain the final grade of this class within a folder, go to  Add column > Category - Folder > Fill in the title > Grade type Result select Numeric grade 100 points >  in  Quick conversion select : US Grades A+ F > in Calculation select  Weighted average.

Now, drag and drop the categories of this class into this folder and it is done.

#### Final Folder with weighted average calculation

To obtain the Total result as Total points grading , edit the  Final resutl folder and change the calculation to Total poins grading then insert the total points (190)  in the grade type.No more configuration needed.

### Extra points column

Inside any Category it is posible to add an Extra Points column, this column will allow to add extra points to any desired student without worsening the results other students.

If one student has no extra points , the column leaves its corresponding cell empty or with a zero otherwise insert in it the extra points awarded.

To do that, just create a normal grade column but with generic grade to 0 points that will do the trick.

#### Category with Extra points column

With this very same configuration you can apply also Extra points to the final result folder, example with results can be seen in next image.
